Eram mici şi nu jucam în faţa blocului. Janu, pe nume Bogdan de fel, pe atunci se numea Cartof. Nu se ştie de ce. Aveam să zic io vreo 3 anişori io şi vreo 5 el. Iulică, care era cam cu vreo 7-8 ani mai mare decât noi, era tartorul tuturor şi ne-a botezat pe toţi.

Era pe atunci filmul acela cu Jean Cristoph Craft, sau cam aşa ceva. Eu neştiind să scriu atunci, nu pot să am habar cum naiba se scria acel nume. De citit se citea Jean Cristof Craft.

Evident, că el, fiind denumit Cartof, s-a făcut o corelaţie imediată între Cristof Craft şi Cartof. Şi s-a renunţat la numele de Cartof şi Janu a devenit Jean. Pentru mine, el este Janu, nume deopotrivă de alint (doar e frăţiorul meu mai mare) şi care evită asemănarea izbitoare cu unii numiţi Jean de la Craiova & Co.

Această poreclă a lui a dăuinit peste ani, în pofida faptului că i s-au vehiculat şi tot felul de alte porecle: Spirache (nu se ştie de ce), Spume şi Şprei (că se agita pe terenul de fotbal), Paganel (pentru că învăţa tot la şcoală).

În facultate a devenit simplu: Macarie. Era însă nedespărţit de Mocu, şi lumea îi confunda. Astfel încât Janu putea fi uneori strigat Mocu şi trebuia să răspundă la apel.
